Magic Well: Drawings and Paintings

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

The ancient Chinese were aware of underlying patterns found at all scales throughout nature, and called their study Li. Artist, Bruce Pollock interprets these patterns in his drawings and paintings. Their limitless combinations and variations provide a ‘magic well’ from which he draws his inspiration. Through his art, Pollock shares the beauty and wonder he finds in these abstract patterns that exist within us and in the world around us, connecting us altogether in a network of life.

New Age In China

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

While visiting the Lama Temple or otherwise called Yonghe Gong – The Palace of Peace and Harmony in Beijing, I saw the Statue of the Maitreya Buddha carved from a single trunk of white sandalwood.  Rising 18 meters high.

Afterward, I was guided to find the first New Age store in China. Opened by Mr Xue Haoliang, the store sells a variety of crystals and holistic healing books. Mr Xue Haoliang also distributes crystal singing bowls. Since I already have three, I didn’t indulge in buying a new one although I was very tempted.
