First Class Seamstress

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

I have two examples of how Rita Schaer’s talent transformed my life. A client spilled coffee on the backside of a pillow that was needle pointed by my deceased mother-in-law. I felt sad throwing it away, but didn’t see any options. The pillow was ruined. I cannot sew.

However, when I told my sentimental husband I was going to trash the pillow, his reaction propelled me to research alternatives.

I met Rita, owner of Maridadi services, in a communication course. When I learned she was a seamstress, I asked her for help with my pillow. Rita did an excellent job of superb workmanship. She was fast and efficient with an excellent eye for detail. My pillow looked like new.

The second time Rita came to the rescue was with my winter vintage coat. The sleeves were too long so it felt uncomfortable to wear, so it wound up hanging in my closet instead of keeping me warm.

Within a week or so Rita transformed my clunky coat into a high-fashioned jacket that feels good to wear. Her craftsmanship is impeccable.

Maridadi is Swahili for anything beautiful, tasteful, or pleasing to the eye. That is the kind of design and workmanship that you can expect from Swiss-trained Seamstress and Designer Rita L. Schaer. Rita studied Haute Couture in Switzerland, where they put emphasis on professional quality. She has 26 years experience and has been in business in the USA since 1988.

From simple alterations to full-blown original fashion creations, Rita Schaer has the talent and experience to help you get what you are looking for, or even go beyond your expectations.

Chocolate may be better for you than you realize. Unprocessed cocoa has a high concentration of antioxidants.  Antioxidants are widely used in dietary supplements to prevent cancer and coronary heart disease.

Clinical studies show that unprocessed raw chocolate assists cardiovascular health, helps relieve joint inflammation, prevent gum disease and boost libido.

Xocai is a healthy form of chocolate. For info check out http://mxi.myvoffice.com/tomherb/index.html

Healing Through Dance and Movement

Monday, February 1st, 2010

Watch my new movie on Group Motion’s Friday Night Dance Workshop.

The Group Motion Workshop, developed by Manfred Fischbeck and Brigitta Herrmann in 1970, has toured nationally and abroad in addition to its regular Friday night at the Community Education Center in Philadelphia, PA. Accompanied by live music, participants are guided into non-verbal communications that free the body-mind from habitual patterns and stress. As a result, people listen to their bodys natural wisdom and respond to the moment with ease. The dances are improvisational, so that they are unpredictable and thereby always an adventure. Recorded music produced by Richard Marcus. For information contact www.groupmotion.org. Produced by Djuna Wojton.

Ancient Healing For Modern-Day Problems

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Acupuncture was developed in China over 6000 years ago, and its still used today to maintain good health, treat a variety of conditions, relieve pain, and reduce stress. The needles used in a treatment are so delicate that no pain is felt as they are inserted into points in the body that correspond to major organ functions.

The needles are left in place for 30 minutes to an hour as the patient relaxes.

treatment for carpel tunnel

The needles stimulate meridians, or energy pathways in the body, so that blockages are removed. When chi, or life-force energy circulates freely, health is restored.

You Can Make a Difference

Monday, December 21st, 2009

The Welcome Center at 2111 Sansom Street provides a safe, welcoming, supportive, environment for people experiencing homelessness in Philadelphia.  This is a day program, which offers counseling towards housing. It also provides lunch, movies, games, reading materials, and an “art corner”, two afternoons a week.

You can make a difference in many ways. Volunteers are needed and monetary donations are accepted.  Volunteers do such jobs as monitoring spaces, assisting in the art corner, or preparing and serving lunch and cleaning up. There are other opportunities to be involved, such as being a guest artist or musician.

Along with needing a constant stream of things like warm socks, toiletries, hats and gloves, reading materials and art supplies are accepted.  If you would like to give volunteering a try or make a donation, please contact Tamara at tamclements@gmail.com or call Ron at 215-567-3668.

Living in the elements, often staying awake all night protecting possessions, is exhausting and stressful. The Welcome Center offers a few hours to relax in a safe space. Please consider being a part of The Welcome Center’s efforts.

The Forgiveness Solution

Monday, December 14th, 2009

The Forgiveness Solution is a very powerful book that offers practical tools to create well-being.

This book shows you how to transform the daily stress and aggravation from encountering rudeness, broken agreements, or from unfulfilled expectations, into peace and love. Or on a deeper level, it can help you forgive those who have deeply hurt, abused, or betrayed you, so that you can heal. You’ll also pinpoint areas where you need to forgive yourself for past mistakes.

You’ll discover how you really are about letting go of past hurts, and uncover areas where you’re incomplete. Dr Friedman then provides visualizations, journal exercises, affirmations and positive pressure point techniques to help you resolve past issues so that you can feel peaceful and experience more love. You can use these tools on a daily basis to shift automatic negative reactions into positive ones. They will help you return back to your core Self.

Sometimes the most difficult relationships offer the greatest healing opportunities. The stories illustrate how past challenges have made you stronger, wiser, and a better person, so that you can shift your perspective. You can release feeling victimized and feel empowered.

The writing is clear, concise and easy to read and each chapter builds upon the next. Although it is very spiritual, it is not religious or dogmatic.

What I enjoyed most was the general tone of the book. It is so filled with compassionate wisdom and advice that just by reading it I was able to feel the Divine Order in my life. The Forgiveness Solution rates five stars. Whether you need to learn how to forgive a reckless driver for cutting you off on the highway or your mate for cheating on you, this book will help you feel happier and fulfilled. It will also help you shift to a higher level of awareness.  I highly recommend that everyone should read it.

Discoveries in Motion

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

I’d spent six hours on an airplane and my body felt stiff. Worrying about my husband’s health had me being a nervous wreck. And I was anxiously waiting to hear news from publishers who were reviewing my book. No wonder I felt out of sorts.

Luckily, Joe Ankenbrand, Feldenkrais practitioner, could give me a healing session. “Your upper back is frozen.” Joe said while touching my back. Within minutes after feeling Joe’s gentle skillful touch, I could breathe easier.

Feldenkris is a gentle hands-on, clothes-on treatment intended for those who wish to reduce pain or limitations in movement, or for those wanting to improve well-being. As a dancer, I’ve used the process to expand my range in movement over the years.

During my most recent session, I saw the impact my anxieties had upon my body. Fearing the future, I was holding tension in my upper back and shoulders. I was unaware that I was holding my breath. By the end of the session, I felt returned to my center, grounded, and peaceful.

Sacred Geometry Tools That Heal

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

Geometry means, “measure of the earth.” Mathematical ratios, harmonics and proportions are found throughout nature. Since ancient times, many architects and artists believed certain proportions to be aesthetically pleasing. Many temples, churches, mosques and monuments are constructed with specific ratios as pat of their architecture. Religious art and iconography, as well as medicine wheels and mandalas, also employ these ratios in their construction. The science of using these ratios is called sacred geometry because these certain proportions can uplift our spirits and naturally invoke peace and tranquility.

Shambhala Healing tools use sacred geometry as a form of vibrational medicine that promotes healing, restful sleep & deep meditation. I use their The Buddha Maitreya Metatron Mat System in my office. It is a magnetic mattress pad designed to lie on top of a mattress, chair or massage table. The Mat combines the sacred geometric proportions of the Vesica Pisces symbol together with an electromagnetic grid. The Vesica Pisces is a diamond shape that contains the Phi Ratio which is found in our DNA, in rocks and minerals, and even in the atomic structure of life.

I find that lying on the Mat opens the meridians - the flows of energy in the body - and allows easy access to the wisdom of the Higher Self. It enhances the healing session.

Buddha Maitreya Head Pyramids are worn on the head and facilitate deep meditation and self-healing, revitalizing and healing the etheric body  - the matrix of the Physical, Emotional and Mental bodies. They can also be hung over an area like a desk, bed or massage table, to help one be more in touch with the Higher Self.
